Take care of your engine!

Accounting is the engine that drives every business. Accounting, eh? Everyone loves accounting! Well maybe not everyone. But if you run a business I believe you should at least have a basic understanding of accounting as well as having professionals you can trust to look at your books and make sure they make sense. I’m going to take this engine/accounting metaphor a bit further to hopefully get you to view accounting in a new light.
If you neglect the maintenance of your engine the car will eventually just stop running. So too will your business fail if you ignore or put off the accounting behind it for too long. Every business needs to mind its compliance, accounts receivables, accounts payables, payroll as well as tax. I’m not suggesting that every business owner should go out and become a chartered account, just as not every car owner has to be a licensed mechanic.
